Moody was charged with three counts of statutory sex offense, two counts of crimes against nature, and indecent liberties with a child.

Moody also has a July 19 Edgecombe County District Court date on charges of misdemeanor sexual battery and misdemeanor assault on a female.

According to Chief Christopher Davis, on Wednesday around 9:15 p.m., Corporal I. Smith responded to the 1600 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway about a man who refused to leave property.

On Sunday around 12:15 a.m., Officer A. Dickens responded to the 400 block of Chestnut Street after a motorist called and reported they were unable to get into their driveway due to a number of vehicles in the area.

Dickens assisted the motorist into the driveway and while he was there heard females arguing.

Amilah Joanna Sade Brown, 26, of Roanoke Rapids was identified as the person arguing and was asked to leave but refused to do so.

She was charged with intoxicated and disruptive behavior and resisting a public officer.

She has an August 9 court date.

Corporal S. McKimmey assisted.

On June 27 shortly before 5 p.m. Lieutenant  L. Melton received a Flock Safety alert on a stolen vehicle coming into Weldon on Highway 158.

The driver, later identified as Eric Shawn Reid Jr., 19, of Durham, sped off and led Melton on a pursuit for 25 miles. The chase ended about 2 miles outside of Conway after spike strips were deployed. The vehicle came to rest in a corn field and Reid fled. He was apprehended on a dirt path.

Reid was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, flee/elude arrest, reckless driving with wanton disregard, failure to heed to blue lights or siren and resist a public officer. He has a September 28 court date.

“The Weldon Police Department wants to thank the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson Police Department, Conway Police Department, Garysburg Police Department, and the Drug Task force for all their assistance during this incident which ended safely,” Davis said.
