The Halifax County Board of Elections will be conducting voter education seminars throughout the county informing voters on what to expect when voting.

Some seminars will be held after the municipal elections.

“There are a few election laws that are changing with one being photo ID and it’s important that we do our part in making sure voters are aware of what is happening,” said Kristin Scott, director of the Halifax County Board of Elections. “There are some voters who attempt to vote, and their experience may be outside the normal voting process, and we would like to share procedures that are in place to help remedy those concerns.”

Each Voter Education Seminar session will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The first session will be held on Wednesday, September 27 at the Halifax County Agriculture Building at 359 Ferrell Lane in Halifax.

The second session will be held on Monday, October 2 at the Scotland Neck Town Hall at 1310 Main Street, Scotland Neck.

The third session will be held on Monday, October 16 at the Hollister Elementary School at 37432 Highway 561, Hollister.

The fourth session will be held on Wednesday, October 25 at the Kirkwood Adams Community Center at 1100 Hamilton Street, Roanoke Rapids.

Plans are in place to assist voters with obtaining a voter photo ID during the seminars.

In any event a card cannot be printed during the session, election officials will still be able to take a picture of the voter and the card will be mailed to the voter.
