The Weldon Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Christopher Davis:

On Tuesday shortly after 2:15 p.m. Officer A. Green received information that a person with several warrants was in the 100 block of South Walnut Street. 

Green, with assistance from Davis, went to the area and located Imani Jemarque Clayton, 27, of Weldon. 

Clayton was listed as a wanted person for a misdemeanor probation violation out of Halifax County. 

He was placed under arrest and taken before a Halifax County magistrate. He was served nine warrants and the fugitive warrant for the probation violation. 

He was jailed without opportunity for bond for the fugitive warrant and received a $105,001 secured bond for the other warrants.

He has an October 30 court date.

On Sunday around 2:30 a.m. Corporal S. McKimmey was dispatched to the area of Country Club Road and Stuart Circle on a loud music complaint. 

He noticed a white pick-up partially in the roadway with the brakes applied by the driver, John Jordan Elks, 57, of Durham. The loud music was coming from the vehicle. 

McKimmey observed damage to the vehicle and observed several signs of impairment while speaking to Elks.

McKimmey attempted to perform roadside sobriety tests but was unable to do so due to coordination issues with the Durham man, who was transported to ECU North by Halifax EMS after complaining of chest pains.

Blood was drawn after he was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while impaired. 

Once he was released from the hospital Elks was taken before a Halifax County magistrate and charged with DWI, open container after consuming, and possession of open spirituous liquor in  the passenger area. 

He has a December 8 court date.

On Saturday shortly before 9:30 p.m. McKimmey was flagged down by an employee at a business in the 1600 block of Julian Allsbrook Highway about a renter causing a disturbance. 

McKimmey discovered that  Flavio Feliciano Sanchez was intoxicated and had been disturbing other guests. 

McKimmey placed Sanchez, 30, of Wilkesboro, under arrest and took him before a magistrate. He had two outstanding orders for arrest and McKimmey charged him with intoxicated and disruptive behavior.

He received a total secured bond of $8,250 and a November 13 court date.

On Saturday around 12:45 a.m., officers with the Weldon Police Department, with the assistance of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, were performing a driver’s license checking station near the Highway 301 bridge. 

Corporal I. Smith encountered a vehicle that the police department had been giving a tip about earlier which was supposed to have been driven by Tamyra Anderson who did not have a license. 

Smith identified Anderson, 26, of Weldon and verified that her driver’s license was revoked. 

She was charged with driving while license revoked and received a $1,500 secured bond with a November 13 court date.

On October 18 around 10:30 p.m., officers with the Weldon Police Department, with assistance from the Garysburg Police Department, were performing a driver’s license checking station near the Highway 301 bridge. 

Smith encountered a vehicle in which he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside.

He ordered the driver — Isaiah Nasir Jenkins, 18, of Conway — to pull to the shoulder.

Smith saw a small marijuana blunt on the driver’s side floorboard. 

A handgun was located in the center console.

Jenkins was charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

He has a December 6 court date.

On October 17 around 8:30 p.m., Officer A. Green was on patrol in the area of Highway 158 when he noticed a vehicle traveling with high beams on. 

Green conducted a traffic stop off Highway 158 near Brownell Street and identified the driver as Zamir Ja’ray Pierce, 18, of Roanoke Rapids. 

Green could smell the odor or marijuana coming from the vehicle. 

A search was conducted and a small amount of marijuana and a handgun were located.

The marijuana was found in the possession of the passenger — Caleb Ausby, 19, of Weldon. He was charged with simple possession of marijuana and received a December 6 court date.

Pierce was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and failure to dim headlights.

He also has a December 6 court date.
