In April of 2024, it will have been three years since Levita Webb and Dexter Miles were killed in the 400 block of Chestnut Street in Weldon.

Town police Chief Christopher Davis said today he met with agents of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation last week to further discuss the case.

“We are looking back into the case,” Davis said. “We feel there are areas we need to possibly look into. We are looking for people who may have witnessed something or anyone with any information they may be able to provide.”

In a statement today Davis said, “We are working with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to look back into this case and hopefully get some new information to follow up on and help us bring light back to this case to hopefully help us be able to solve this case and bring closure to the families of the victims.”

After the deaths of Miles and Webb on April 6, 2021, Governor Roy Cooper established a $25,000 reward and an anonymous donor pledged $2,000.

Officers found the pair shortly after 1:30 a.m. after responding to a shooting call. They discovered the two had been shot and killed inside of the residence.

Another victim who was shot got away from the shooter by fleeing to a residence located in the 300 block of Turner Street.
