The Roanoke Rapids based 12U Lady Twisters travel softball team traveled to Smithfield this past weekend for the USSSA Back to School Blast Ring Tournament.

They headed down there ready to play ball and try to win the USSSA Champions Ring!

Saturday was an extremely hot day, and the ladies started slow in the heat. Logan Ross pitched against the North Wake Phanatics in Game 1, only earning 1 strikeout but retiring 9 of 13 batters. As the offense struggled to get going, Akirah Grey and Logan Ross drew key late game walks as they and Alex Richardson who had reached base on a bunt, were driven in by Kamryn Dixon's 3 RBI Triple. Kamryn would later score, earning the Lady Twisters to a Game 1 win 4-2.

Mia Fleming faced the Carolina Storm Surge in Game 2, striking out 4 and retiring 9 of 16 batters. The offense again struggled at the plate scoring only 3 runs off of RBI Singles by Akirah Grey and Makaila Ricks. The Storm Surge won this game 6-3.

As the pool games became final, The Lady Twisters were given a chance to exact revenge against The Carolina Storm Surge, and Kalissa Williams took to the rubber striking out 4 and retiring 9 of 17 batters. Perhaps the sun had finally warmed up the Lady Twister bats however as the offense came to life in this first Bracket Game. Mia Fleming and MacKenzie Stallings led the way with 2 hits a piece. Five other ladies had hits but perhaps the most impressive was Kamryn Dixon's Third Triple of the day, leading the Lady Twisters to a 12-2 win over the Storm Surge, setting up a game against the #1 Seeded Team Garner Elite.

Kalissa Williams once again took the mound, in this last game of a long hot day of Softball, as she struck out 9 and retired 12 of 17 Garner Elite batters. Once the third inning rolled around Alayna Davis drew a leadoff walk which would be the straw that broke the dam open at the plate for the Lady Twisters as they would bat around scoring 5 in the inning. In an impressive showing at the plate four Lady Twisters, Alexandria Richardson; Kamryn Dixon; Kalissa Williams & MacKenzie Stallings, went 3 for 3 at the plate. The Lady Twisters won this game 8-2, setting up a Sunday afternoon battle with Emporia based TopHand Storm.

As Sunday afternoon rolled around, Kalissa Williams once again got the nod and faced off against the Storm, striking out 6 and retiring 12 of 16 batters. The Storm jumped out to a 2-0 early lead, and this time around it was the bottom of the lineup that came through for the Lady Twisters. Mia Fleming started it off with a double, followed by singles by Mackenzie Stallings, Jaina Davis, Logan Ross and a 3 RBI triple by Tyasia Stansbury. The Lady Twisters won this game 6-3 and were headed into the Championship Game full of confidence.

The Lady Twisters would once again face the TopHand Storm in the Championship Game, as the Storm had won their way back by defeating the North Wake Phanatics 8-7. Kalissa Williams continued her success pitching, striking out 4 and retiring 15 of 17 batters. This time around the top half of the lineup got their bats going, pouring in runs in all but one inning. Key hits by Kaylee Colier, Tyasia Stansbury and a 3 RBI double by Mackenzie Stallings helped seal the Championship for the Lady Twisters as they defeated the Storm 9-1.
