An Enfield woman has been charged in the Tuesday stabbing death of her 10-year-old sibling.

Captain Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the child was stabbed multiple times but declined to elaborate.

Kaneijah Zyir Bradley, 22, was charged with murder and was jailed in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond. She has a January 25 first appearance in district court.

The discovery of the child’s death was tied to a missing persons report to which deputies responded in the 2000 block of Beaverdam Road outside Enfield around 10:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they learned that the mother had located the missing child in the back yard and that the child appeared to be deceased.

Further investigation revealed that the child had been stabbed multiple times.

Investigators believe that the victim had been stabbed inside the home and moved outside to the rear of the home.

The motive is unclear at this time and remains under investigation.

“This is such a sad incident,” said Sheriff Tyree Davis. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
