A man who dropped his wall found the money he had in it was stolen when he retrieved it Friday afternoon.

Weldon police Chief Christopher Davis said Sergeant I. Smith responded to the store in the 500 block of West Second Street around 3:30 p.m. after receiving a larceny call.

Smith learned the victim dropped his wallet near the front door of the store and when he came back to retrieve it, all his money had been taken out.

Smith's investigation of the security video determined that a woman picked up the wallet and later brought it back and placed it where she found it.
