City has meeting set with BOA

Much of the discussion during a Roanoke Rapids City Council work session this evening centered on the theater and what to do with it now that the lease agreement with HSV Entertainment officially comes to a close in four days.

The Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Board of Trustees named John Parker today the interim superintendent.

RRPD holiday patrol nets 64 violations

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department along with help from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, Weldon Police Department and North Carolina State Highway Patrol conducted check points and saturated patrols over the holiday weekend.

A man wanted in a February botched robbery attempt in Weldon was captured last week by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
