According to a statement by Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp, Agent D.W. McKeel attempted to stop a vehicle for a violation at Washington Avenue Extension and Elm Street around 11 a.m.
The driver refused to stop and continued to Washington Avenue and Eleventh Street before stopping. Two of the four occupants ran.
McKeel and Agent C.A. Parker chased the two and caught them at Sycamore and Eleventh streets. Captain A.M. Harris detained the other two.
Agents seized a digital scale and three handguns, one of which was reported stolen by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department. No further information on the weapon stolen from Roanoke Rapids was immediately available this evening.
McKeel arrested and charged the following:
Aaron Martin, 22, of Weldon, for resisting a public officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. Martin was also served an outstanding warrant for arrest for misdemeanor larceny, possession of stolen goods and misdemeanor conspiracy for a crime reportedly committed at Walmart. He received a $3,500 bond.
Deluntae Squire, 19, of Halifax, for resisting a public officer. He received a $500 bond.
Jayquan Smith-Walley, 16, of Halifax, for flee to elude arrest, fail to heed light or siren, reckless driving to endanger, speeding and no operator’s license.
He received a $2,500 bond.
Calvin Lewis Robinson, 22, of Halifax, for resisting a public officer, possession of a stolen firearm, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of firearm by felon.
Robinson was placed on probation in February and at the time of his arrest was wearing an electronic monitoring device.
He received a $50,000 bond.
They have May 24 court dates.
