Wrestling Jackets headed to regionals

The Roanoke Rapids wrestling team will travel to Wheatmore High School where they will compete in the NCHSAA Mid Eastern Regionals Wrestling Championship, Friday and Saturday.

The following wrestlers as they are seeded and who they will wrestle:

106 lbs #7 seed Harry Crawford ( RR ) received a bye the first round.

113 lbs #12 seed Shamar Cogdell against #4 seed Lee Staford (Trinty)

120 lbs #8 seed Ethan Dixon against #9 Jerell Brooks (Jordan Mathews )

126 lbs #12 seed Jacob Bouchard against #5 seed Otto Wolin (Carrboro )

132 lbs #3 seed Christian Doisey received a bye.

138 lbs #15 seed Aaron Purser against #2 seed Chase McKinney ( Wheatmore ).

145 lbs #14 seed Will Harris against #3 seed Akin Dunston (Carrboro ).

160 lbs. #11 seed Jeremy Clemmons against #6 seed Matteo Fulgheri (Carrboro ).

170 lbs. #3 seed Robert Weber against #14 seed Ryan Griffis (Cummings ).

182 lbs #4 seed Nathan Dixon against #13 seed William Mercer (Bunn).

195 lbs. #4 seed Matthew Norton received a bye.

220 lbs. #12 seed Christopher Rogers against #4 seed Jacobie Lewis (Carrboro ).

285 lbs. #2 seed Antonio Lawrence received a bye .

The top four wrestlers in each weight class qualify for the States next week.

RRHS head wrestling head coach DA White stated, " We wrestled light this week due to sickness going around in school. We have five to six kids that are not 100 percent. We sat a couple down from practice. All in all, we should do well going into the weekend. We will wrestle two rounds in the Championship bracket Friday and one round in the consolation bracket. It starts at 5:30 pm then Saturday starting at 8:30 am."
