The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Varsity Baseball team defeated the Bunn Wildcats in a key 2A Northern Carolina Conference matchup Friday night at Doyle Field by a score of 3-2.

The Yellow Jackets got on the board first in the bottom of the 4th inning. Colby Warren doubled home Marcus Allen from first base.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the 6th inning. RRHS scored 2 runs to take a 3-0 lead. Peyton Jackson, running for Marcus Allen, scored on an Aaron Jackson single. Then Tyler Liverman, running for Colby Warren, scored on a fielder's choice from Jordan Collins.

Bunn scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning to close the gap, but Josh Elias relieving for Colby Warren closed the door to preserve the win.

Post game comments by Coach Mark Snead, "This was a big win for our team. When you beat a quality team like Bunn you always know you played a great game. Our guys played strong defense and had timely hitting. Colby pitched an excellent game. Josh really showed what he was made of coming in with the bases loaded and helping us seal the win. Now we have to turn our focus to Monday's practice to prepare for South Granville."
