9-11 observances set Sunday A scene from last year's observance in Roanoke Rapids.

The Roanoke Valley will mark the 15th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks Sunday.

An observance sponsored by AMVETS Post 101 will be held at Kirkwood Adams beginning at 2 p.m.
The town of Halifax will hold a parade between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. down King Street.
The Roanoke Rapids event begins with an informal reception from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and then a prayer service to honor those who lost their lives.
The prayer service will also honor law enforcement, firefighters, rescue and ambulance crews, emergency management, the North Carolina National Guard, reservists and active personnel. There will be special music.
The Halifax parade will line up at the courthouse on Ferrell Lane and proceed down King Street and then to the town park behind the post office.
