A superior court judge today revoked the bond of Marquise Whitmore and remanded the Roanoke Rapids man to custody without opportunity for bond pending his trial set for the May term in Halifax.

District Attorney Valerie Asbell said the state asked for the revocation because Whitmore has committed crimes while out on bond.
His most recent arrest occurred last week after he allegedly threw 19 bindles of heroin from his vehicle following a brief chase in the Highway 903-Three Bridges Road area.
Assistant District Attorney Keith Werner said Judge Wayland Sermons determined “the risk of his actions versus being out on bond are adverse to the public interest and safety.”
Whitmore’s name is listed on the court calendar more than 20 times to face a variety of charges, including the December 20, 2014 death of Leslie Fishel at the intersection of Tenth Street and Becker Drive.
