A woman charged in April with dogfighting now faces another count after investigation revealed she was a convicted federal felon in Virginia.

Search of the Stack Powell Road residence of Erica Powell Gary led to the discovery and seizure of a Remington 870 shotgun and an Interarm rifle.

The discovery of the weapons led Lieutenant Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office to serve a warrant to Gary on July 17, charging her with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigation revealed Gary was convicted of conspiracy in a marijuana case in the United States Eastern District Court in Virginia in 2006.

She was given a $5,000 bond on that charge and has an August 7 court date.

Harris said in a news release that Gary's prior charges related to dogfighting and other marijuana counts are slated for disposition Halifax County Superior Court Monday.
