RRPD roundup: Drug charges; stolen weapons charges

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

On Friday at approximately 4:30 p.m., Officer A. Green was in the area of Oak Street following up on a narcotics complaint when he conducted a traffic stop.  

During the stop Virginia Lynn Thomas, 27, of Gaston, was found in possession of narcotics and gave a false name.  

Thomas was cited for possession of marijuana and giving false information.

She was released until her August 27 court date.

Investigators J. Hardy and C. Babb and Officer C. Hagbourne assisted.

 

On Saturday at approximately 2:30 p.m., Green was in the area of Oak Street following up on a narcotics complaint when he stopped Jonathan Lynn Johnston, 25, of Roanoke Rapids, walking away from the area.  

During the investigation Johnston was found in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.

Green arrested and charged Johnston with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.  

He received a $3,000 bond and June 29 court date.

Sergeant M. Moseley and Hagbourne assisted.

 

On Sunday at approximately 11:15 a.m., Officer S. Blythe responded to Walmart about a larceny.  

Officers located two people after they fled from loss prevention staff.

Samantha Rea Blish, 38, and Michael Paul Fowler, 40, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, were detained for the larceny and during a search narcotics were found in Fowler’s possession.  

Blythe charged Blish with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Fowler was charged with larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of oxycodone and possession of lorazepam.

Both received $2,500 bonds and July 18 court dates.

Officer D. Strickland assisted.

 

On Sunday at approximately 2:30 p.m., Green was in the 400 block of Becker Colony Drive following up on a narcotics complaint when he approached several people standing around two vehicles in which the smell of marijuana was prevalent.  

During further investigation a search was conducted and narcotics, paraphernalia and two stolen firearms were located.  

Officer Green arrested and charged the following:

  •  Dustin Lamar Fountain, 19, of Creedmoor, for possession of stolen firearm, having a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $2,500 bond and August 1 court date.

  • Justin Shamar Fountain, 19, of Warrenton, for possession of stolen firearm, having a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $2,500 bond and August 1  court date.

  • Skiie De’voe Alston, 23, of Littleton, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $750 bond and August 3 court date.

Moseley and Strickland assisted.

 

On Sunday at approximately 4:30 p.m., Moseley responded to a domestic in the 100 block of Old Farm Road.

During the investigation narcotics and paraphernalia were found in the possession of Steven Wayne Brooks, 20, of Conway.  

Moseley cited Brooks for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released until his July 9 court date.

There was no visible sign of injury to any of the parties involved in the domestic and they were advised to speak with a magistrate about obtaining warrants.
