The Roanoke Rapids Police Department today released its Law Enforcement Lip Synch Challenge video set to The Gambler by Kenny Rogers.

Law enforcement throughout the country have been posting videos to social media lip-synching different songs and then challenging other agencies to do the same.

“The community really wanted us to do one so we decided to dive in and accept the challenge,” Chief Chuck Hasty said.

The video, which was filmed and edited by Gabe Fanara, features Hasty, Sergeant Mike Moseley, Officer Joe DeSare, Investigator Gorton Williams, Elle the pit bull and Officer Dale Strickland playing poker and using doughnuts as chips.

The Gambler was Hasty’s choice. “I love Kenny Rogers. That’s what I grew up with in the 70s.”

Hasty said he believed the officers did a great job. “Some of the younger guys didn’t know the song.”

Hasty has challenged all law enforcement agencies in Halifax County to make a lip-synch video.

Hasty said he likes the idea of the challenge. “It shows our human side and how we like to have fun.”
