Two charged with refrigerator theft

Two Weldon men were charged with the theft of a refrigerator Sunday following a break-in.

Lieutenant Chris Davis of the Weldon Police Department said in a statement Officer Q.L. Godley responded to a residence in the 600 block of Sycamore Street after receiving a report two people were removing a refrigerator.

Godley identified one man as John Henry Price, 57. The other walked off.

Godley discovered the residence was broken into and the people were trying to steal the refrigerator.

During a search of the area Greg Benny Cardena, 37, was located in the 700 block of Maple Street.

Both men were placed under arrest and taken before a magistrate.

They were charged with breaking and entering, larceny after break and enter and possession of stolen goods.

Both men received $8,000 secured bonds and have September 5 court dates, according to the state court calendar.

Sergeant L. Melton and Officer N. Coles assisted.
