RRPD roundup: Shots fired; narcotics search warrant

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

On Sunday at 9:15 p.m., Master Officer R. Cross responded to a shots fired call in the 100 block of Monroe Street.

Investigation determined Tony Jerome Armstrong, 38, of Roanoke Rapids, may have been the person firing the shots in the neighborhood.

Cross obtained a search warrant for Armstrong’s residence and during its execution spent shell casings, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and several handguns were recovered.

Armstrong was arrested and charged with resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and was issued a criminal summons to appear in court for discharging a firearm in the city limits.  

Armstrong received a $1,500 bond and August 27 court date.

Lieutenants B. Norton and J. Baggett and officers S. Blythe and J. DeSare assisted.

 

On Monday at 4:15 p.m., Officer H. Marshall responded to Walmart to investigate a larceny and fraud.

Loss prevention told Marshall Heather Aileen Little, 37, and Chad Thomas Little, 40, took items and returned them for a refund.  

Marshall arrested and charged Ms. Little with obtaining property by false pretense, larceny and possession of stolen goods. She received a $1,000 bond and September 5 court date.  

Mr. Little was arrested and charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He received a $500 bond and September 5 court date.

 

On Monday at approximately 2:30 p.m., the criminal and narcotics investigations division executed a search warrant in the 200 block of Roanoke Avenue.  

During its execution narcotics, paraphernalia and a firearm were located in the residence.  

Kenji Garner, 36, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $20,000 bond and September 5 court date.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be pending.

On Monday at approximately 5 p.m., Gaston Police Department located a vehicle reported stolen from Roanoke Rapids at approximately 6:45 that morning from a residence in Chaloner Park.  

Captain B.L. Martin arrested and charged Joshua Adam Watkins, 31, of Roanoke Rapids, with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

He received a $5,000 bond and September 5 court date.

Baggett and DeSare assisted.
