Danny was born in Halifax County, NC, March 6, 1954, to the late Austin Lee and Barbara Jean Jenkins Clay.
He was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School, class of 1972, and was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his brothers, Dean and Ricky Clay and his fiancée, Barbara Phillips.
Surviving are his daughter, Barbi Clay and fiancé, Joel Guy of Scotland Neck, NC; two sons, Daniel Clay and wife, Diane, Brandon Clay and wife, April; sister, Jeanie Pike and husband, Curtis, all of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Billy “Lobo” Clay of Gaston; grandchildren, Harleigh Clay, Wyatt Clay, Peyton Clay, Emily Clay, Jacob Calhoun, Walker Calhoun and Kiersten Calhoun. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services 731 Roanoke Ave Roanoke Rapids.
Rev. Randy Martin will conduct a graveside service Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 11 am in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
