The Roanoke Rapids based 12U Lady Twisters travel softball team traveled to Kenly, NC this past Saturday August 25th for some USSSA softball action.

Logan Ross pitched the first game against Southern Chaos striking out 4 and retiring 12 of 19 batters, and Kalissa Williams led the way at the plate going 2 for 2, one of those hits being an in the park 2 run Home run. The ladies picked up a win in the first pool game 6-3.

Mia Fleming pitched a tough second game against The Vipers. Some questionable calls, and some silly plays cost the girls the game. They fell in the second pool game 9-6.

Kalissa Williams took the mound in Game 3 against the Wildcards. Kalissa struck out 4 and retired 12 of 16 batters. The Twisters' bats were starting to wake up during this first bracket game led by Jaina Davis, who went 2 for 2 including a 3 RBI triple, and Mia Fleming who also went 2/2 and drove in a Run as they beat the Wildcards 7-2 to advance.

Kalissa Williams took the mound once again for Game 4, a rematch against the Vipers that would eventually end up in extra innings, setting up an International Tie Breaker finish. Kalissa struck out 8 batters and retired 15 of the 24 batters she faced. The Lady Twisters were strong at the plate in this rematch, led by Alex Richardson who went 3 for 3, Mackenzie Stallings and Jaina Davis both went 2 for 2 as the Twisters proceeded to drive in 5 of the 7 runs they scored. Tyasia Stansbury and Alex Richardson scored during the International Tie Breaker inning on key bunts by Alayna Davis and Mia Fleming. It would be enough to cap the victory for the Twisters, 5-4, advancing them to the Championship Game.

In the Championship Game Mia Fleming took the mound and faced an aggressive Carolina Mudslingers team. The Twisters started off the game where they had left off Game 4 and got right to work at the plate. Alex Richardson bunted to get on and scored on a Kalissa Williams single. Kalissa scored on a Mackenzie Stallings Double and after Kaylee Collier was hit by a pitch both of them scored on a Jaina Davis single. Unfortunately the ladies couldn't get much else going after the first and were only able to get a few hits the rest of the game, as they fell short in the Championship Game 12-5, finishing 2nd place for the event.

The ladies played a very long day of softball, as they played the very first game of the day in Kenly at 8:30 AM, and ended up in the final game of the day at 9 PM, the Championship Game, where they finished as the 2nd place team. The ladies are Coached by TT Williams and Mike Hearp.
