Roanoke Rapids Planning and Development Director Kelly Lasky said the decision to amend the proclamation was based on the current track of Hurricane Florence and its southward shift.
In a statement on the matter, the city stated, “These restrictions could be re-instituted if hurricane conditions become worse as the storm progresses. We ask all citizens to stay safe and use common sense if they feel they need to be out during the storm.”
The statement also said the city will update information as available on its website at www.roanokerapidsnc.com and department Facebook pages.
The statement reiterated, “At this time, there are no restrictions regarding curfew, alcohol sales, etc. This is subject to change as weather conditions deteriorate.”
