The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has no plans at this point to charge a business owner who shot a reported intruder with a handgun Friday night.

Cul Priest Jones, 40, of Roanoke Rapids, was shot in the forearm, pelvis area and twice in the middle torso after he was allegedly caught behind a cash register with a gun, Sheriff Wes Tripp reported earlier today.

Tripp said this afternoon there were no exit wounds discovered on Jones's body. Jones allegedly engaged the business owner in a physical assault.

Jones remains in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.
