Commissioners laud Simpson with proclamation

Halifax County commissioners this morning honored Hollister native and The Voice contestant Brooke Simpson with a proclamation recognizing her performances on the NBC talent show.

Board backs naming portion of 301 in Jones' honor

Halifax County commissioners today unanimously approved a resolution naming a portion of Highway 301 in honor of the late Edward Jones, a 30-year veteran of the state Highway Patrol and North Carolina state senator.

Approval of funds for the study of conditions at Weldon High School this evening led to a suggestion it’s time for Halifax County commissioners to look at updating its overall school improvement plan.

Tourism debuts new video, presents annual report

The Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau has a new promotional video, which its president, Lori Medlin, presented to commissioners today before giving her annual report.

Weldon City Schools officials will report back to Halifax County commissioners after the school board determines how it wants to fund a study which could lead to renovations or construction of a new high school.
