Silver opts to discontinue run for sheriff

Jimmie Silver announced on his Facebook page today he will not continue a possible run for sheriff of Halifax County.

Jimmie Silver, who plans to run against incumbent Wes Tripp for Halifax County sheriff as an unaffiliated candidate in November, has received enough signatures his petition can be certified.

The boards of commissioners in Warren and Franklin counties Monday approved resolutions supporting a new 911 center in Halifax which will serve as a regional backup center for those two counties.

Three charged in Littleton area larceny

Two men and a woman were arrested Wednesday after the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering in the Justice Branch Road area of Littleton.

A Hollister man was charged with three counts of statutory rape after the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigated a department of Social Services report on a juvenile who tested positive for pregnancy following a routine doctor’s visit.
