Tornado warnings possible; post offices closed Friday

As noted in the graphic, the National Weather Service says tornado warnings are possible as the outer bands of Hurricane Florence move into and cross Central North Carolina.

Local impact likely despite Irma's westward shift

The latest National Weather Service briefing in Raleigh shows Hurricane Irma has taken a slight westward track.

The National Weather Service says snow should be tapering off by late this afternoon or early this evening.
