Fire destroys Gaston area house

A house built in 1835 was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning, according to Gaston Fire and Rescue.

The Garysburg Police Department, along with the departments of Gaston, Jackson, Rich Square and Woodland as well the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, will participate in National Night Out Tuesday.

Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center announced today its newest site will be located in Woodland in the old Southern Bank Building on Main Street.  

As the sixth anniversary of her murder passed, a private investigator’s probe into the death of a 29-year-old woman in Northampton County leads him to believe she was killed for financial gain.

Three people have been transported to medical facilities for treatment of what are believed to be critical injuries while another four were transported for treatment of non-critical injuries following a crash in the southbound lane of Interstate 95 this afternoon.
