A statement by the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office offers new insight on the circumstances which led a New Hanover County probation absconder to hide in a storage bin on the grounds of a wood pellet plant outside Garysburg Monday.

A Wilmington man who hid in an industrial storage bin on the grounds of a Northampton County wood pellet manufacturing company is in jail on $326,000 bond after he fell late Monday night.

A Wilmington area man listed in state Department of Public Safety records as a probation absconder, as of this report, remains holed up in a storage bin on the grounds of Enviva Pellets outside Garysburg.

A Roanoke Rapids man surrendered to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday after learning he was indicted on heroin trafficking charges stemming from a September investigation by the Down East Drug Task Force.
