City set to apply for Chaloner Rec improvement grants

The Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Department will apply for two grants to fund the Chaloner Recreation Center portion of the Highway 158 Masterplan.

A December 17 confrontation during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Franklin Street led to commendations for two Roanoke Rapids police officers.

Advisory upgraded to winter storm warning

An earlier winter weather advisory has been upgraded to a winter storm warning, according to the National Weather Service.

A splash pad and spray park for Chaloner Recreation center will be the first priority in an application for funds made to the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust.
