1026 green space water feature installed

The water feature at the 1026 Roanoke Avenue urban green space has been installed and the city’s public works department is working on tweaks to the system which allows the water to fall down metal screening and into a tank.

Tenth Street is back open after Roanoke Rapids firefighters went in and shut off the emergency shut off system to a propane tank at Builders FirstSource.

Six charged in Goldmine larceny, machine damage

Six people have been arrested throughout this month following a July larceny from Goldmine Cafe in Becker Village Mall.

Roanoke Rapids firefighters continue to monitor a propane leak at Builders FirstSource which forced the evacuation of several businesses in and around the Tenth Street area.

Softball teams receive recognition from council

Roanoke Rapids City Council this evening recognized the accomplishments of four girls softball teams.

Roanoke Rapids City Council this evening decided to take no action on a proposed resolution requesting the state Department of Transportation consider redesigning the widening of Highway 125 to include an unobstructed turn lane.
