Diane Griffin Powers, 69, of Roanoke Rapids, died Wednesday September 12, 2018.

As noted in the graphic, the National Weather Service says tornado warnings are possible as the outer bands of Hurricane Florence move into and cross Central North Carolina.

The most likely potential for the Roanoke River to crest at Roanoke Rapids or Scotland Neck is below minor, the National Weather Service reported in its latest morning briefing.

The city has amended its state of emergency proclamation issued Wednesday and lifted a curfew, prohibition of alcohol sales and restrictions on possession, transportation and transfer of weapons and substances.

Two Roanoke Rapids men have been charged in the Monday armed robbery of a Greensville County store.
