Welcome to Roanoke Rapids Graded Schools!

Students must live within the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District

as outlined on the RRGSD district map to enroll in RRGSD.

Only parents or legal guardians may register a child for school. The student does not need to be present.

Please follow the steps below to enroll in Roanoke Rapids Graded Schools:

STEP 2:

Schedule an appointment to submit required registration materials (listed below)

STEP 3:

Wait for your student's assigned school to reach out to you confirming the registration and next steps. (Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.)

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS at time of REGISTRATION

  • Parent/Guardian Photo ID - NC Driver’s License or NC state issued ID is requested (must match the address listed on student registration form) OR at least two other reasonably reliable indicators of residency if parent/guardian does not have a license or photo ID.  Contact Student & Public Information Officer for guidance.)

  • Electric Bill at current address (address must be within RRGSD)

  • Water Bill at current address (address must be within RRGSD) 

  • A certified copy of your child's birth certificate or other acceptable proof of birth (See RRGSD Board Policy 4100. Must be age 5 on or before August 31st of the current school year.)

  • Legal Custody Papers (Signed court order granting custody. If applicable - notarized statements or power of attorney are not acceptable)

  • + Immunization Record (new students only) 

  • + Health Assessment (Kindergarten only) - Exam should be made no more than 12 months prior to date of school entry

  • + NC Health Assessment/Physical Form (if student, Grades 1-12, is enrolling for the first time in a public school in North Carolina) Exam should be made no more than 12 months prior to date of school entry

+Failure to supply the requested information within 30 calendar days could cause your child to be removed from school until the information has been provided.

RECOMMENDED DOCUMENTS at time of REGISTRATION

  • Report Card (we will request this document if needed) 

  • Transcript (Grades 9-12, we will request this document if needed)

  • IEP or 504 documents 

  • AIG and/or EL paperwork

Kindergarten Registration 2024-2025: Your child must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024 to enroll in RRGSD Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year.

If you reside east of Roanoke Avenue, your child would attend Manning. All those west of Roanoke Avenue would attend Belmont. If you are unsure, please call our registration office at 252-519-7100.

Let's Get Ready Guide for Rising Kindergarteners

The Let's Get Ready Guide provides family-friendly resources on age-appropriate developmental skills, support tips, and at-home activities where adult/child interactions are the central focus. It is not intended to determine if a child “is" or "is not” ready for kindergarten. A Spanish version is available as well.

PreK

Clara Hearne Pre-K Registration

Clara Hearne is both federally and state funded. Therefore, registration is income and needs based. All families are encouraged to apply.

Your child must be 4 on or before August 31, 2024.

If your child has developmental concerns or is receiving services from the CDSA, please call our office to inquire.

The following items are required documents required for Pre-K Registration:
- 2023 tax return for all contributing household members OR 
-2023 W2's for all contributing household members  OR

-a month's worth of paycheck stubs (must be consecutive) 

AND -proof of child support for any child in the home if applicable.
