Wakefield VA - died peacefully on September 27, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C.W. “Jack” Griffin Sr.; her parents, Elmer E. Ross and Hattie Borrell Ross; two sisters, Irma Molloy, Margie Hicks, and a brother, J.D. Ross. She is survived by her brother, Wallace Edwards; two sons, Clarence Wayne Griffin, Jr. and his wife, Susan Reagan Griffin, and Ross Laine Griffin and his wife, Heather Hill Griffin; four grandchildren, Reagan Griffin, Whitney Griffin, Alexis Watkins and Allie Watkins.

Rev. Dr. Charles Edward McCollum, Sr., the devoted servant and spiritual leader of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, N.C. and Piney Grove Baptist Church in Halifax, N.C. entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, N.C.

The Legacy Celebration for Rev. Dr. Charles McCollum, Sr. will be Friday, March 13, 2026, beginning at 6:00pm in The Oak Grove Baptist Church Promiseland Sanctuary at 10614 Highway 158, Littleton. 

A visitation to honor the Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr.  C. E. McCollum will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Dr. Ervin V. Griffin, Sr. Centre on the campus of Halifax Community College, 200 College Drive, Weldon, North Carolina.  The Homegoing Celebration Service will follow at 1:00pm at The Griffin Centre.  

Following the Homegoing Celebration Service, join the family for Rev. Dr. C. E. McCollum’s Legacy Motorcade Processional beginning at Halifax Community College. The Legacy Motorcade Procession will commence at the Sarah Keys Evans Plaza (Wyche St. & Virginia Avenue, Roanoke Rapids), proceed to Oak Grove Baptist Church (10614 Highway 158, Littleton), resume to Eastern Carolina Christian College & Seminary (1015 NC Highway 48, Roanoke Rapids) and conclude at Piney Grove Baptist Church (1089 Piney Grove Church Road, Halifax) where the  Motorcade Procession will stop and lay a wreath at each location in Rev. Dr. McCollum’s honor.    

In lieu of flowers, The McCollum Family is requesting for donations to be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation “In honor of Rev. Dr. Charles E. McCollum, Sr.” at https://fundraise.myeloma.org/fundraiser/7055648

The interment will be held in his hometown Burlington, NC at 11am at Alamance Memorial Park.
