City begins pilot recycling program

The city has begun a pilot recycling program at the public works building on Hinson Street to gage interest and participation amongst the public.

James Donald Pittard

Cameron Douglas Newsome

Cameron Douglas Newsome, infant son of Rodney Douglas Newsome and Joyce Ann Spence Newsome of Dinwiddie, VA, died Friday June 28, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center.  Preceding Cameron in death is his paternal grandfather, Douglas E. Newsome.

RV U10 All-stars play for Coach

The Roanoke Valley U10 girl softball all-stars played for Coach Ewers this past weekend. Head coach Bill Ewers lost his 38 year old brother from South Carolina before the tournament. The girls played hard and gave it their evrything with a 4-2 record and took the team to the Championship game before coach and his daughter Carrigan Ewers along with his family had to head to SC Sunday morning.

The RV U8 girls all-star softball team gave it all their Heart Sunday afternoon in the ENC District one Babe Ruth tournament championship game. RV lost to Camden 7-2. Camden has won the U8 in district one since U8 the U8 started.
