The Halifax County 4-H Summer Camp schedule has been modified and re-structured based on limitations brought on by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The county said in a statement today staff has been given guidance from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to ensure the safety of campers and camp staff.
The modified schedule includes shortening the camps from eight weeks to four, and all activities will be held outside.
The schedule is as follows:
June 29 – July 2: Safari Camp — no field trip and no camp on Friday, July 3
July 6 – July 10: Jr. Deputy/CSI Camp — free camp paid for by Sheriff Wes Tripp
July 13 – July 17: Outdoor Adventure Camp
July 20 – July 24 – Space Camp
All camps are $55, except for the Jr. Deputy/CSI Camp, which is free.
There will be no field trips as social distancing will not be possible on the buses.
For those who have already registered for camps and sent in payment, camp staff will be contacting those families to modify the applications and process any changes and/or refunds. For more information about the camps, visit the website
