A man wanted for harboring two people facing charges in a shooting death originally reported as a suicide surrendered this morning, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Chief Shane Guyant said Jaylen Andre Woolfolk, 24, surrendered to the police department around 5:30 a.m.

He received a $100,000 bond and January 25 court date.

Guyant said Thursday Woolfolk allowed Demonte Johnson and Patrick Banks to hide in his Georgia Avenue residence for a few days. The two men were captured at Woolfolk’s residence Saturday although he was not there at the time.

Woolfolk has been charged with accessory after the fact while Johnson faces a second-degree murder count and Banks faces charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact.

Johnson remains incarcerated in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $525,000 secured bond. Banks and Woolfolk were not listed in detention center records as remaining incarcerated this morning.

The charges are related to the November shooting death of Johnson’s girlfriend Brittany Smith which had been reported as a suicide.
