A Monday morning stop in Enfield led to the arrest of a man on crack and marijuana charges.

Deputy K. Taylor of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office charged Ricaveon Whitaker following a stop on Southeast Railroad Street for a revoked tag, according to Captain Scott Hall.

Hall said Taylor was overwhelmed with the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle while interviewing Whitaker, 23, of Enfield.

Whitaker was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana.

He was charged with felony possession of schedule II, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

He posted a $3,000 bond and has a March 5 court date.
