A Roanoke Rapids man was charged last week in the January theft of a firearm from a residence off Highway 48.

Detective Obert Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Kasey Oneal Tanner was charged with larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The case stems from a report taken on January 28 involving a firearm stolen from the Ruble Cooke Road area.

Warrants were drawn up for his arrest. He was arrested on the warrants Thursday by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department and jailed on $8,000 bond with an August 19 court date.

He has various court dates in Halifax County this and next month for numerous charges ranging from simple assault and assault with a deadly weapon to injury to personal property and possession of stolen goods.
