One man was arrested today and another is sought in an alleged food stamp fraud case, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office reports.

The arrest today of Michael McCrae Love, 48, of Roanoke Rapids, stems from a July 13 investigation into a report in which a benefits card was purchased and then used, Detective Obert Wiltsie said.

Love was charged with buying and distributing electronic benefits and illegal possession of illegal benefits.

Wiltsie said approximately $86 worth of items were purchased with the card and the investigation remains open.

Love received a $2,500 bond and August 19 court date.

Meanwhile, Wiltsie said the sheriff's office is looking for Kristopher Edmondson, 30, of Roanoke Rapids, for a charge of sell and distribute electronic food benefits.
