The Roanoke Valley girls opened the North Carolina  Little Tarheel League State tournament after a small weather delay today in Smithfield. The U12 girls beat Johnston County 12-6 in first round action.

Lizzie Colston pitched all six innings with four strike-outs and gave up 2 walks.

At the plate  for the Valley girls were: Cassidy Dickens had a single, Lizzie Colston had two singles & a RBI, Lily Curtis had a single, Kelsey Bierbauer had two singles, Caitlin Bobbitt had a sacrifice & a RBI, Taylor Kelly had two singles & a RBI, Lilly Chappell had a single & two RBI's, while Cassidy Medlin & Meagan Beam had a single each.

The Under 12 ladies advance to the second round Friday morning at 10 AM against the winner of Wautaga vs Western Harnett game.
