Coach Basnight will be an assistant coach for the Yellow Jackets this 2015-16 football season.

Coach Basnight started his coaching career volunteering coaching running backs for a Pop Warner league team in Elizabeth City then for his former Middle school also in Elizabeth City. Basnight then moved to Halifax COunty and ws the head football coach for William R. Davie Middle for three years and also volunteered as a defensive coordinator at Northwest Halifax for two seasons. Coach Basnight stated, " I would like to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity & my beautiful wife for encouraging me to take this opportunity. Also I would like to thank Coach McDaniels, Mr. Davis & the Roanoke Rapids Athletic department for this opportunity.

"I have always wanted to be a voice on the high school level. I am just excited & hyped for this athletic school year," Basnight added.
