The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on the whereabouts of a couple wanted for a motor vehicle break-in and theft of property earlier this month.

Detective W.C. Murphy Jr. of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Mimiracle Burgess, 17, and Khalil Starks, 19, both of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly gained access to a victim’s vehicle and took a financial card, which was used at a local food mart on Highway 48.

Both are being sought for breaking or entering a motor vehicle, financial card theft, and obtaining property by false pretense.

Murphy said this afternoon it is not believed the boyfriend and girlfriend are involved in a rash of vehicle break-ins reported in the city limits of Roanoke Rapids.

He said the pair were familiar with the victim in the case.

Burgess and Starks tend to travel together, Murphy said, and Starks has listed an address in Gaston in the past.

Anyone with information is encouraged to Murphy at the sheriff's office at 252-583-8201.
