The two charges against William Smith reflect two different victims, Detective Obert Wiltsie, of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, said.
Smith was familiar with both victims, but Wiltsie declined to elaborate further.
Investigation began after the sheriff's office received a report originating from the Reeses Store Road area on July 10.
Smith was developed as the alleged suspect following investigation by Deputy D. Newsome.
Further investigation by Wiltsie led to the charges against Smith, which were filed earlier this week.
He was arrested this morning without trouble and jailed on $10,000 bond.
He has an August 19 court date.
