RRPD blotter: August 7-8

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

August 7

At approximately 5 p.m., Sergeant Mike Moseley and officers Greg Colson and Adam Salmon responded to a hit and run at Becker Drive and East Tenth Street.

The victim told officers while stopped at the light another vehicle hit them from the rear.

The driver agreed to pull over to a parking lot to get out of traffic but left the scene.

Moseley located Michael James Cooney, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, at a residence on Marshall Street and arrested and charged him with driving while license revoked and hit and run with property damage. Clooney was given a $1,000 bond and a September 14 court date.

August 8

At approximately 11 p.m., Officer Scott Blythe responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention told Blythe Eddie Joe Robinson, 48, of Littleton, took items from the store without paying.

Blythe arrested and charged Robinson with larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was also served with two outstanding orders for arrest.

Robinson received a $7,000 bond and an August 31 court date.

August 9

At approximately 2 p.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett responded to a 911 hang-up call at Creekside Court.

The victim told Baggett Kevin Lee Lonesky, 39, of Roanoke Rapids, was threatening them and when the victim tried to call 911 he took the phone and threw it down.

Baggett arrested and charged Lonesky with interfering with 911 communications.

Lonesky was given a $400 bond and a September 4 court date.

At approximately 12 p.m., Baggett and Williams responded to a call in the 1800 block of Roanoke Avenue about a man assaulting a woman.

Once officers arrived they spoke with a person at the scene who didn't see anything.

Officer Jeffrey Mason spoke with Jerome Terelle Seabreeze, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, and during a routine check for warrants, it was discovered Seabreeze was wanted by the state of Virginia for violation of probation.

Mason arrested Seabreeze for being a fugitive from justice.

Seabreeze received a $10,000 bond and an August 19 court date.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Williams, Colson and Salmon responded to a hit and run near Applebee’s.

The victim told officers there was a collision and the other driver left the scene.

Shaquan Devon Richardson, 22, of Roanoke Rapids, was located, arrested and charged by Colson with driving while license revoked, hit and run with property damage and leaving the scene of an accident. Richardson, who was out on bond on other charges, received a $20,000 bond and September 14 court date.

At approximately 4 p.m., Williams responded to a trespassing call in the 100 block of Washington Street.

Williams located Meisha Sparkle Malone, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, who had an outstanding warrant for trespassing.

Williams arrested Malone for the warrant.

She was given a $200 bond and an August 25 court date.
