The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has solved a more than three-year-old breaking and entering case which involved the assault of the victim.

Detective Obert Wiltsie said investigators identified Jerrell Brown early on in the March 24, 2012, investigation of the crime occurring on Cheeter Street in Littleton.

He said, however, it took further investigation in order to issue warrants in the case, which involved the beating of the victim.

The victim, Wiltsie said, sustained a deep laceration over the eyes and was bruised over the chest, face and eyes from the physical assault. The wounds required initial treatment at Halifax Regional Medical Center and the victim was later transported to Vidant in Greenville,

Wiltsie there was a history of arguments between Brown, 24, and the victim. “At the minimum, alcohol was involved with both parties.”

Brown, who was arrested Sunday, faces charges of breaking and entering, assault inflicting serious bodily injury, larceny, and possession of stolen goods. Brown received a court date of August 19 and a $5,000 bond.
