The Weldon Police Department is seeking information on a call of a sexual assault occurring Tuesday evening at River Falls Park.

Lieutenant Chris Davis said the matter remains under investigation and the victim went to the hospital.

Sergeant Lee Mason and Officer Q. Godley responded to the call around 10:15 p.m.

A female victim stated the accused was a male of unknown race. He was wearing gray or white sweatpants and black shoes.

The only other description given of the male was he had a deep voice. It is currently unknown if the man was armed.

With the police department still investigating, Davis advises, “We just want to let the public know don't go down there by yourself.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
