Hasty said it is unclear what prompted the matter, in which four people were arrested.
In a statement Hasty noted Officer Patrick Smith heard several shots fired in the area while several officers responded to the parking lot of Yesteryear and observed a large crowd around 2:30 a.m.
Lieutenant Charles Burnette received a description of a vehicle from which shots were reportedly fired and Smith located and stopped it on East Tenth Street.
Raymond Mills, 25, was the driver of the vehicle. Passengers were Markell De'Shawn Harris, 25; Phaylen Remelo Pierce, 19; and Garry McIlwain, 21. McIlwain is from Littleton and the other men are from Roanoke Rapids.
Officers located two handguns in the vehicle as well as 117 grams of marijuana.
Smith arrested the occupants, making the following charges:
Harris, for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He received a $5,000 bond.
Pierce, for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm within the city limits. He received a $5,000 bond.
McIlwain, for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon. He He received a $4,000 bond.
Mills, for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance, driving while impaired and no operators license. He received a $6,000 bond.
The men have December 18 court dates.
Hasty declined comment on whether the police department may initiate nuisance abatement proceedings at Yesteryear as another shooting was reported at the establishment in June.
