RRPD blotter: November 14-15, 2015

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Saturday November 14, 2015

At approximately 3:30 a.m., Sergeant Richie White and Officer Ryan Cross responded to an assault call at Fairfield Apartments.

Cross met a man later determined to be Rico Anthony Johnson, 27, of Enfield, as he was responding to the scene.

Cross determined Johnson was impaired and arrested and charged with driving while impaired.

There was no evidence to charge him with assault and he was released to a responsible party until his December 18 court date.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., Officer Jason Williams responded to a trespasser call at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Hospital security reported Cornell Travis Pender, 29, of Scotland Neck, was on the property and was not supposed to be there unless receiving medical treatment.

Pender was arrested and charged with trespassing. He received a $4,000 bond and January 8 court date.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Katherine Marie Walls, 37, of Halifax, allegedly took items from the store without paying.

Smith cited Walls for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

She was released until her December 18 court date.

At approximately 10 p.m., Smith responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Christopher Ryan Turner, 29, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items from the store without paying.

Smith arrested and charged Turner with larceny, possession of stolen goods and trespassing.

He received a $1,500 bond and December 11 court date.

White assisted.

Sunday November 15, 2015

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Cross responded to an assault call in the 600 block of Oakley Avenue.

During his investigation, Cross noticed the victim had injuries to the neck area.

Cross arrested and charged Desiree Nicole Gainey, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, with assault.

She was jailed without opportunity for bond due to the domestic nature of the case and has a December 18 court date.

White and Officer Joey Spragins assisted.

At approximately 2 a.m., Master Officer Gerald Morris conducted a traffic stop for a violation on East Seventh Street.

Morris found the driver, Ethan Cole Johnson, 22, of Halifax, had an odor of alcohol and also found two concealed weapons in the vehicle.

Johnson was arrested and charged with concealing a gun after consuming and failure to dim headlights. He received a $500 bond and January 15 court date.

Morris also cited Starla Elizabeth Gregory, 19, and Kristen Lee Harlin, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, for consuming an alcoholic beverage while under age.

They were released until their December 14 court date.
