Detective D.C. Dickens of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office declined comment on the time between the offense and arrest of Marcel Manns Jones, 47, and what correctional facility she reportedly tried to smuggle the marijuana into.

In a statement he said she was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a prison or jail facility and identity theft for using another Charlotte resident's drivers license to attempt to visit an inmate.

The marijuana was intercepted by correctional officers.

Jones received a $2,000 bond and January 27 court date.
