Woman charged with larceny by employee

A Halifax woman has been charged with larceny by employee following investigation by a Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputy.

Major Scott Hall said Amethyst C. Simmons, 22, was reportedly caught taking money from Community Marathon on Highway 158 just outside Roanoke Rapids.

Deputy Darrian Epperson responded to the complaint late Monday afternoon. His investigation led to the woman's arrest.

Simmons was released on $2,500 bond with a pending court date of February 17.
