RRPD blotter: January 4-7, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Monday January 4, 2016

Investigator Chris Babb has obtained warrants on Phillip Kiah Jr., 24, of Roanoke Rapids, for habitual larceny and trespassing.

These charges stem from November 1 and 24 investigations where Kiah allegedly took items from Walmart.

Babb learned Kiah should have been charged under the felony habitual larceny statute.

Kiah is encouraged to surrender to take care of these charges.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact Babb at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

Tuesday January 5, 2016

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Officer Alex Green conducted a traffic stop on Branch Avenue for a traffic violation.

During the stop Green encountered the driver, Carolyn Pierce, 68, of Roanoke Rapids, and found out her license was revoked.

The passenger, Johnny Lee Handsome, 48, of Roanoke Rapids, was found in possession of narcotics and an open container.

Green arrested and charged Pierce with driving while license revoked. She received a $1,000 bond and January 22 court date.

Green arrested and charged Handsome with possession of schedule II, possession of schedule VI and possession of an open container.

He received a $1,500 bond and January 22 court date.

Sergeant Mike Moseley, Master Officer Gorton Williams and Officer Adam Salmon assisted.

At approximately 3 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Dorothy Ann Taylor, 58, of Weldon, allegedly took items.

Mason arrested and charged Taylor, who received a $1,000 bond and January 15 court date, with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

At approximately 5 p.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported James Randell Todd Davis, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items.

Baggett arrested and charged Davis, who received a $500 bond and February 19 court date, with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Williams assisted.

At approximately 9 p.m., Officer Scott Blythe responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Brandi Renee Davis, 35, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items.

Blythe cited Davis, who was released until her February 8 court date, with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

At approximately 11 p.m., Master Officer Roy Ball noticed a person acting suspicious in what is traditionally called the no-hundred block of Madison Street.

Ball stopped Nicholas Everette Pierce, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, in the 200 Block of Madison, and observed Pierce throw something to the ground.

The item was recovered by Ball and found to be narcotics.

Ball cited Pierce for possession of schedule VI and he was released until his court date on February 8.

Thursday January 7, 2016

At approximately 8 a.m., Green received a call to assist the state probation and parole officers with Josiah Lee Rice, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, who was in custody for a probation violation, after probation officer found him in possession of narcotics when they arrested him.

Green charged Rice, who received a $500 bond and January 22 court date, with possession of schedule VI.

Salmon assisted.

At approximately 8 a.m., Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Louise Irvin Harrison, 55, of Weldon, allegedly took items.

Mason arrested and charged Harrison with larceny, possession of stolen goods and served an outstanding order for arrest.

She received a $6,200 bond and January 22 court date.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., Mason responded to motor vehicle collision on Highway 158.

Three vehicles were involved and Mason learned Seton Ravel Harris, 73, of Roanoke Rapids, one of the drivers, was impaired.

Mason arrested and charged Harris, who was released to a responsible person until his February 8 court date, with driving while impaired and failing to comply with license restrictions.

Moseley and Officer Dale Strickland assisted.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Ball and Officer Jamie Hardy were conducting a checkpoint at Franklin and Thirteenth streets, when Ball spoke with Christy Daniell Hockaday, 31.

Hockaday was found in possession of narcotics and an open container.

Ball cited Hockaday, who was released until her February 8 court date, with possession of schedule VI and possession of an open container.
